To support our customers, select HMC staff members speak English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese. Our broad customer base extends beyond the veterinary community to include pet specialty stores, military bases, pharmacies and grocery stores.

History

Founded in 1977 by Charles Nakamura, Eric Johnson and Carl Izumi, HMC is a customer-focused company leading the distribution of veterinary healthcare products in the Islands. Utilizing their combined pharmaceutical industry expertise, concept selling and a thorough understanding of “demand base control” (customer loyalty and support through frequent and focused customer contact), the founders have positioned HMC as a dominant partner for the majority of the Hawaii veterinary community. In addition to product sales and distribution, HMC also partners with veterinarians to provide sound business planning, strategies and tactics with measured consequences. As a result, HMC is now an established company with a firm foundation for growth in future segments.
